Preliminary set of indicators released

The first set of indicators that will be tested within 5 African transboundary pilot Basins have been released.

In the context of this project, the decision was made to use two different sets of existing performance indicators, with different focus on how to evaluate IWRM, as the basis for developing IWRM performance indicators for African transboundary basins. The first one aims at describing the process of river Basin Management as refering to the RBOs functions.
The second set of indicators is targeting Information related to the development of the physical and social on-the-ground situation, so-called "technical" indicators. They are grouped around four problems: the risk of excessive exploitation of water resources, of deterioration of water resources, of deterioration of living conditions, and of deterioration of the environment.
